On one of my first trips to New York a good few years ago, one of the places I was keen to visit and pay my respects was Ground Zero, and the site of the World Trade Centre. The area was still under re-construction at the time and it was a surreal and moving experience to visit the site. One of the walkways gave a clear view of the foundations of what would later become the new Freedom Tower, or One World trade Centre. It was quite shocking to see in person for the first time when you suddenly got a sense of the scale of what had happened.
I had actually forgotten about this shot, but I came across the photo again recently while sorting through my Library.
I took this photo of the Louvre a long time ago, on one of my first trips to the wonderful city of Paris, France. I had gotten up early one morning to explore the city in the early light, and I was wandering around the area of the river. From here you can go in through the rear entrance to the Louvre, which brings you into this beautiful Courtyard

It’s nearly been 10 years since I had my first trip to New York City. On the first night there, My wife brought me to see the amazing sight of al the lights and billboards in the busy junction. These were my first photos from New York, taken in the winter of 2006.

The top of the Empire State Building is probably one of the top tourist destinations in Manhattan, but if you get a chance to go, the best time is definitely at sunset. I was there a few years ago and managed to time the queues just right to be up on the observation deck, just as the sun was beginning to set. I shot a lot of images that night, and I’ll share some more in the weeks ahead.
You can see more of my New York images on my portfolio. A Print of this shot is available here
Shot on a Nikon D90 with 18-200mm lens.
I was in Vienna a few years ago in winter and it was such a lovely city to visit. I really love the old trams there. I got lots of shots while I was there and I even created a book of Vienna images. This Tram shot was one of the many I got and I love the winter light on the buildings in the distance as the Tram rolls off into the city.
One of my favourite images from the first time I went to New York is this shot of an old fire escape on this wonderfully textured building. It’s nothing fancy, but in a way, it really captures the feel of the city.

Another photo from my recent trip to Berlin. this is of the famous Brandenburg gate. The light was just right as evening was becoming sunset and the sun was right behind the statues on top of the arch. In the plaza in front of the monument, there were lots of tourists and revellers enjoying the Berlin atmosphere.
Just outside Frankfurt I went to a beautiful picturesque little town/village called Heppenheim. This was a wonderful little place that still has lots of medieval style buildings and is nestled in lots of green German countryside.
Taken on a recent trip to Berlin, this picture is of tourists outside Germany’s parliament building, the The Reichstag in the German capital of Berlin.
